Where and What was Gush Katif

Gush Katif was a vibrant and colourful community of under 10,000 residents that lived in what is known as the Gaza Strip. This area was developed by the Israeli government through the years after Israel became a state in 1948. What was at stake was the millions of dollars worth of infrastructure, from agriculture to academia, that was forcefully relinquished by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and his proponents of the – Road Map to“peace”.

The Torah specifically states that land being Eretz Israel is not to be sold or given away when Jewish inhabitants and the guests that sojourn amongst them possess it. There are many passages in Tanach, (Torah, Kettuvims, Neviim and everybody’s Bible for that matter), that support the nation of Eretz Israel.

G-d himself made these decrees 3,700 years ago when a people called the Jews received word from Mount Sinai after years of slavery in Egypt. This is why Gush Katif is so important not just to its residents but to all of Israel as a whole.

Possible dangers exist if a withdrawal should occur!

  1. First and foremost this will anger G-d! Many stories in the Tanach (Bible) will explain what happens when Bnai Israel disobeyed his commandments.
  2. Expect an increase in terrorism ... world wide! Given Israel’s volatile position in the Middle East, a move like this more than likely will jump start and give renewed energy to terrorist factions within and outside of Israel because the viewpoint that Israel doesn't care about its people will be broadcast by this action. If Israel doesn’t care about its Jews, why should anyone else? This would make Jews a world-wide target for an unprecedented level of hate and terror not seen since the Holocaust.
